Brain Injury & Concussion Recovery
Our Brain Injury and Concussion Recovery services provide occupational therapy support for individuals of all ages recovering from brain injuries. Whether the brain injury results from a concussion, stroke, infection, or trauma, our goal is to promote recovery, functional independence, and quality of life through evidence-based interventions tailored to each individual's needs.

We focus on the following areas of support:

-
Cognitive Rehabilitation: Strategies to improve attention, memory, processing speed, and executive functioning.

-
Sensory Processing Support: Addressing sensory sensitivities and challenges that may arise following brain injury.

-
Physical Coordination and Motor Skills: Enhancing balance, strength, coordination, and fine motor control.

-
Emotional Regulation and Coping: Supporting emotional well-being through self-regulation strategies and stress management.

-
Daily Functioning and Life Skills: Promoting a return to self-care, school tasks, and community participation. As a part of these services, we collaborate closely with schools and community activities to gradually return in a safe and confidence-building way

Understanding Pediatric Brain Injury
Brain injuries in children can result from various causes, including:

-
Acquired Brain Injuries: Resulting from medical events such as strokes, infections, or lack of oxygen.

-
Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI): Due to physical trauma like vehicle accidents or significant falls. This includes concussions; mild traumatic brain injuries often caused by falls or sports accidents.

Pediatric brain injuries can impact physical abilities, cognitive skills, emotional regulation, and sensory processing. Recovery is unique to each child and requires a multi-dimensional and collaborative approach.
